The Literacy Council serves as the host organization for the 100 Families Alliance, an initiative that uses shared data between community partners to help struggling families move from crisis to career. Currently more than 50 Texarkana non-profit and faith-based organizations, government agencies, and businesses serve as partners in the Alliance.
Our organization brought this initiative to Texarkana in March after seeing the incredible success that 100 Families had in four other counties in Arkansas. Even though Texarkana's program is less than a year old, we have already seen lives being changed through this research-based collaborative approach to case management. By harnessing the power of existing resources in our community, we have been able to educate people on the skills they need to find success.
The Texarkana 100 Families Alliance meets regularly to discuss care plans, resources, and other information that helps support clients. Kristina Rivas-Jones is the county coordinator of the 100 Families Alliance in Texarkana, and she provides free training for any organization interested in joining the alliance.
Fun Fact! The 100 Families Declaration video was released state-wide in Arkansas and made its debut at an awards ceremony honoring Governor Asa Hutchinson at his mansion in September. ALL of the voices you hear in the video are Texarkana children!
