Dr. Jenny McCormack Walker joined the Literacy Council as Executive Director in July of 2020 as the organization faced the pandemic and serious financial distress. Under her tenure, the Literacy Council has found stability and is the healthiest it has ever been, with significant increases in enrollment and goal completion for the adult learners it serves. In the past three years, the Literacy Council has earned recognition locally, at the state level (in both Texas and Arkansas), and nationally. Most recently, Dr. Walker was named the 2023 Outstanding Literacy Council Director from the Adult Learning Alliance of Arkansas, an organization that supports more than 50 counties across the state.
She earned a doctorate in education leadership and a master's degree in education administration from Texas A&M University - Texarkana. Dr. Walker received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of North Texas and is a graduate of Liberty-Eylau High School.
